One of the most effective ways to engage students is to make THEM the teachers. This gives students the opportunity to share their knowledge with classmates. With this in mind, I recently helped a group of 3rd graders create a tutorial about different types of graphs. Three students became the teachers, and the rest of the class were then asked to create a graph of their own, based on the information included in the movie. Below is the final product we created together:
